Intro to Computer Science for High School Educators

Having the opportunity to study computer science is critical for all high school students to remain competitive in the real world, both inside and outside of the technology field. This course demonstrates why equitable access to computer science is imperative for Michigan students and how Michigan’s K-12 Computer Science Standards can be leveraged for effective instruction at the high school level. Explore a framework that will relate core concepts and core practices for a board and deep level of understanding of computer science as well as successful implementation models.

In this course, you will:

  • Understand why computer science education should be equitable and urgent,
  • Summarize the implications of the Michigan K-12 Computer Science Standards,
  • Generate ideas for integrating computer science into all subject areas, and
  • Utilize resources at every skill level for learning coding, building apps, and more.
