Teaching Students With Autism: Strategies for Success

In today’s classroom, children with high-functioning autism (HFA) and Asberger’s Syndrome (AS) are learning alongside their neurotypical peers. This applicable course will help you understand how these students’ brains function and how to turn their challenges into opportunities. You will develop skills to support your students with social and emotional learning, sensory sensitivities, homework completion, language reciprocity, and physical outbursts.

In this course, you will:

  • Learn from real scenarios of students with ADHD how they cope in and outside of the classroom,
  • Understand more clearly what having high-functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome means for a student,
  • Develop easy, low-budget ways to help HFA/AS students succeed in your classroom and beyond, and
  • Discover the many ways in which these students bring a rich perspective to your classroom for you and their peers.
