Course description:

This webinar series will focus on the history of the Civil War Amendments up to the Civil Rights Movement. The presenter will discuss the U.S. South as a slave society, the Reconstruction Era, and the Jim Crow Era. Information includes the formation of political parties, acts, compromises, economic policies, and court decisions that influenced this time period.

In this course, you will:

  • Reflect upon the U.S. South as a slave society.
  • Examine primary court cases, Acts, and Constitutional Amendments that defined the Reconstruction Era. Including Congress’s debate over the definition of “freedom.”
  • Analyze the effects of the Jim Crow Era and Jim Crow as a system, including drawing connections to today and the content that you may be teaching.
