About This Course
The opioid epidemic in the United States poses a threat to our students and communities. Education professionals can save lives and make a difference with naloxone. This course covers the knowledge and skills needed to recognize the signs of an overdose and administer naloxone, a life-saving medication.
In this course, you will:
- Identify the impacts of the opioid epidemic and its relevance to the world of education
- Recognize the importance of harm reduction and the need for naloxone programs and policies
- Describe opioids and their effects on the body, including the signs and symptoms of an overdose
- Recognize the effects of naloxone on the body
- Respond to an opioid overdose with naloxone
- Reduce addiction stigma by countering misinformation about opioids and addiction
- Advocate for naloxone education and distribution in your school community
