An effective online teacher should be capable of supporting a diverse group of students, and their unique needs, in their online classrooms. This may mean supporting students in basic troubleshooting, supporting students in higher level and credit recovery courses, supporting students in their social-emotional development and other soft skills, or even with specific needs outlined by an IEP or 504 plan. In being knowledgeable and supporting a broad range of student needs, teachers create an inclusive and conducive learning environment for all students where they feel supported. As the seventh of eight courses in the Online Teaching and Learning (OTL) Level 2 series, you’ll be on your way to earning a badge for each course and, ultimately, achieving the OTL Level 2 Mastery badge.
In this course, you will:
- Identify definitions and components of supporting students in the online classroom
- Analyze common OTL scenarios and make recommendations for student support
- Outline a student support plan that can be implemented in an online classroom
