Student Pass Rate

Over the past three years, 70 percent of the AP Exam scores reported to Michigan Virtual were 3s, 4s and 5s. This puts our pass rate on AP Exams about six percentage points higher than the state of Michigan average.

Prerequisites for AP Courses

Many Advanced Placement courses require prerequisites. If your student hopes to take an AP course before graduation, plan ahead to ensure they have time in their schedule set aside to take the appropriate prerequisite courses! 

AP History: World History and two or more years of high school English

AP Biology: Biology, Chemistry, Algebra I

AP Calculus AB: Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus

AP Calculus BC: Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus

AP Chemistry: Chemistry and Algebra I. Basic data analysis skills.

AP Chinese: Chinese 4A, 4B or equivalent level of Chinese with proficiency of 1600-2000 Chinese words.

AP Computer Science: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II

AP Computer Science Principles: Algebra I

AP English Language & Composition: Three years of high school English.

AP English Literature & Composition: Three years of high school English.

AP Environmental Science: Biology. Current or completed enrollment in Chemistry and Algebra I,

AP French: Three or more years of high school French.

AP Human Geography: Strong reading and writing skills are recommended.

AP Macroeconomics: Algebra I

AP Macroeconomics: Algebra I

AP Physics: Geometry and completed or concurrent enrollment in Algebra II.

AP Physics 2: AP Physics 1

AP Physics C: Physics. Concurrent enrollment in Calculus is encouraged.

AP Psychology: None

AP Spanish Language: Three or more years of high school Spanish.

AP Statistics: None

AP U.S. Government & Politics: Completion of high school U.S. History is recommended.

AP U.S. History: None

AP World History: Success in previous history course and teacher/school counselor recommendation.
