Build Your Own PD Plan
In partnership with Brighton Area Schools and South Redford School District, we are offering professional development opportunities to select Michigan-certified shared time teachers. This excellent training opportunity provides these teachers with SCECHs and the ability to expand their knowledge base on critical topics in education at no cost to themselves.
If you are a Michigan-certified shared time teacher interested in building your own PD plan, please follow the steps below and use the form at the bottom of the page to indicate which options you are choosing and when you would like to begin your courses.
Choose ONE of the following courses. These courses are self-paced, meaning there is no instructor and you can set your own pace for learning. You will have 90 DAYS to complete this course and will be asked to select your start date in Step Three.
6 SCECHs — 6 Hours of Content
What if you could take all the time that you spend informally researching educational strategies (e.g., reading blogs and articles, watching YouTube videos or participating in Twitter chats) and formally honor this time commitment with SCECHs? Now you can! MyPD is a vehicle to formally honor educators’ informal learning efforts. In this course, you will define your problems of practice, create a plan to address them and receive valuable feedback from our professional learning coaches.
11 SCECHs – 11 Hours of Content
Based on the work of Eric Jensen, this course provides background on the effects of poverty on learning in the classroom. The course moves beyond theory and provides practical classroom strategies tied to seven essential mindsets for the successful education of all students, especially those who are at-risk.
