MAC: Developing Appropriate Assessments

Assessment practitioners must take many factors into account to develop quality and appropriate assessment processes. This foundational course provides you with an overview of the assessment development process for the practitioner as it relates to the Assessment Literacy Standards that serve as core guidelines. You will be able to explain the five keys to quality assessments, the purpose of a test blueprint and how to create one, and how to match targets with various methods of assessment.

In this course, you will:

  • Explain the need for having a clear purpose for your assessments,
  • Understand the principles of sound assessment design
  • Describe how to communicate assessment results effectively to the appropriate intended user, and
  • Recognize the importance of involving students in their own learning
