The new Michigan Science Standards are changing how we think about science instruction in our state. This professional development course gives you insight into the Phenomenal Science movement developed by teachers to address critical needs lacking in elementary science and strategies for implementing 3D learning for fifth graders. This course covers materials for lessons in Earth Systems, Matter and Interactions, Earth and the Universe, and Matter, Energy and Ecosystems.
In this course, you will:
- Identify Michigan Science Standards as they apply to fifth graders and how to fulfill them,
- Relate areas of science, engineering, English language arts, and mathematics for fifth grade learners,
- Discover assessments, lessons, handouts, and links for resources to engage students, and
- Record your experiences, successes, and challenges to help shape future content and lessons.
