Food Safety

Food plays a key role in all of our daily lives, but the mishandling of it can cause serious illness or even death. This instructive course will help you recognize the purpose of the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Code and identify the responsibilities of food employees regarding the prevention of foodborne illness. You will learn proper food handling techniques and how to avoid illness and allergic reactions.

In this course, you will:

  • Learn common causes of illness from foodborne pathogens or allergies,
  • Familiarize yourself with measures taken for safe food handling given by the FDA’s Food Code, and
  • Recognize your responsibilities as a food employee to prevent food illness in the public.
