Blackboard: Saving Microsoft Word Documents (Windows)

Introduction:

Saving documents varies with the version of Microsoft Word installed on your Windows computer. This document describes how to save your document so that it can be attached to assignments in Blackboard.

Details:

Microsoft Word 2010

  1. Begin by selecting the File menu and then choosing Save As.

  2. Next, Browse to the location on your computer where the file should be saved.

  3. As a result, the save as window will open, choose “Word Document (*.docx)” from the available options in the Save as type drop-down menu.
  4. Finally, insert a title for the assignment in the File name field and then tap the Save button.

Microsoft Word 2007

  1. First, tap the Office button and then select Save As.
  2. Next, tap Word 97-2003 Document.An image of the steps above is shown in the 2007 version of Microsoft Word. An arrow points to the Word 97-2003 Document option.
  3. As a result, the save as window will open, select either “Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)” or “Word Document (*.docx)” in the Save as type drop-down menu.
